Education Officials visit Mabaruma to assess NGSA preparations

Georgetown:  The Chief Education Officer, Mr. Marcel Hutson and the Assistant Chief Education Officer (Primary), Ms. Carol Benn met with the Grade Six teachers and pupils of Mabaruma, Region One to check on readiness for the National Grade Six Assessment.

Both teachers and pupils were encouraged to work hard to ensure that there is improved performance. The Chief Education Officer told teachers that their commitment, dedication and professional development are critical to the process.

He advised teachers to strive for excellence while sharing strategies for improved performance. He made it clear that the Ministry of Education was doing everything to close the gap in performance between schools in the hinterland and the coast.

The Assistant Chief Education Officer (Primary) added that the Primary Sector will continue to work vigorously to improve performance across the country noting that emphasis will be placed on monitoring and supervision and professional development.

The Regional Education Officer, Mr. Nigel Richards also encouraged teachers and lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Education for the interest shown in Region One through the execution of many educational projects. The CEO and team move to Port Kaituma today.

The National Grade Six Assessment will be written on April 17 and 18, 2019.
