Eleven Plus Examination not the root of learning

Bridgetown.

The Eleven Plus Examination will not make children, this is the view of Minister of Education of Human Resource Development Ronald Jones when outlining expected changes to the media earlier this week.

Asked whether changes would come to the Barbados Secondary Schools' Examination (BSSEE) familary known as the Common Entrance Examination, Jones said:"I am looking at changes to learning and education.

"The Common Entrance Examination does not cause learning, the classroom is the place where children developed their learning skills", says Jones.

"As a result , the quality of teachers, the infrastructure; the way children are encourage to learn, the kind of assessment modalities with the school and parental support", are the important factors of eduacation", he added.

Jones statements came as the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Develoment prepares to hold a series of meetings across the island  on the BSSEE for principals, teachers and parents.
