Employment rights bill coming soon

Bridgetown: A new employment rights law is a top priority for the Government of Barbados.

Minister of Labour, Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo told Trackker News that the Bill which is nearing completion and will be brought to Parliament soon.

“The Ministry of Labour is focusing on creating a climate in the workplace that allows workers to feel secure and thus be more productive in the workplace Byer Suckoo said.

She added, “There is a lot of talk about Barbados ‘productivity and this new Bill ensure that the rights of the workers are protected and hopefully increase their productivity ”.

 She continued, “The Ministries of Finance, Commerce and Trade are doing what they have to do that Barbados is position to be very competitive and productive, none of this will happen if the workers do not feel that they have a safe and secure environment to work in.”
