Essequibo : Guyana’s latest centenarian, Ramjohn Mohamed Khan of Aurora, Essequibo, recipient of the Medal of Service, celebrated 100 years yesterday.
Khan, who has been the Imam of the Aurora masjid for a number of years, and a retired rice farmer was treated to a celebration.
Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Alli Baksh, himself an Essequibian, took time off to meet with Khan.
The centenarian has 13 children, 41 grand children, 57 great-grand children, and 57 great-great-grand children.
Khan was bestowed the National Award under the Forbes Burnham Presidency for his good efforts in managing the Co-op Society in Essequibo.
