Essequibo miners injures lover, kills self

Georgetown: A 35-year-old miner of Richmond village took his own life after he stabbed his 32-year-old girlfriend of Devonshire Castle, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).

Dead is Andy Williams, a gold miner of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam). The incident reportedly occurred at around 09:00hrs at Anna Regina.

Police said that an argument escalated between the two, and Williams whipped out a knife and charged towards the woman, but only managed to slightly injure her in the left wrist.

After the woman escaped, Williams took his own life; he was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, while the woman was treated and discharged.

Police investigations are ongoing.
