Estimate debate begins in the House of Assembly

Bridgetown.

"One good turn in the management of the economy in the wrost recession deserves second turn", Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler made the comment as he lead off the debates of 2012-2013 Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure in  the House of Assembly yesterday.

Sinckler  in his three hour presentation outline why in his view, the public should stick with an administration under pressure but focused.

According to Sinckler, the Government had kept the exchange rate pegged, contained job losses, kept the island's foreign at $1.4 billion, brought down the deficit, maintained social services, while battling the wrost global recession in recent history.

Sinckler said the island still faced a number of challenges, among them are a $790 million oil import bill and a $90 million drop in corporate taxes.

'All this contracted the Barbados economy last year and while many countries are buckling under the pressure not Barbados, we have faced down the challenges and are much more stable", Sinckler said.
