Georgetown: The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department recently seized and destroyed a large quantity of expired food products, which were being offered for sale at some wholesale and retail outlets in region five.
Businesses targeted were in the areas of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara; Rosignol and West Bank Berbice.
Products that were seized and destroyed were mainly those with a short shelf life. These included: mayonnaise, Swiss pasta, Choco Listo, Advil tablets, Exedrin tablets, Sprite soft drinks, Tampico and Fruita juices, ground geera, Nescafe coffee, potato chips, cashew nuts, Sunshine cheese balls, Blue Band butter, Trisco, Tastee snacks, Grace soup mix, Grace flavoured mix, Luppo Choco, Twins glucose powder, Chief hot sauce, Coco Cola and Ice pineapple drinks, Van Camps bake beans, Somai Chinese spice, Peppies plantain flour, Chief curry powder and onion powder, Chin Chinese spice, Best Way black pepper, Peppies mustard oil, Chin green seasoning, and Best Way bar-b-que sauce.
