The Ministry of Agriculture is asking farmers to be on the looking for crop and livestock theft during the Christmas season. Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick, and is asking the farming community to be vigilant and to put plans in place to tackle this problem.
"We have to realise that sometimes it takes a community to protect themselves. The farmers who are living in the communities and the residents should work together to have a type of neighbourhood watch programme to see how they can stem praedial larceny", suggested Minister of Agriculture Dr David Estwick.
According to Estwick, praedial larceny is a social and legal nightmare. He stated the ministry had put a framework in place to help the police find a solution to the problem.
