Georgetown : The National Assembly yesterday afternoon reconvened after a month-long recess with the presentation and reading for the first time of the Financial Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2015 No. 10 of 2015. The Bill was presented and read by Finance Minister, Winston Jordan.
During this, the 17th sitting of the National Assembly, several Financial Audit Reports for public service agencies were also laid in the House.
Prime Minister and First Vice President Moses Nagamootoo presented the Audited Financial Statements from the National Communications Network (NCN) for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2014 and the Government Information Agency (GINA) for the years December 31, 2001 to December 31, 2008.
Minister of Social Cohesion Amna Ally presented the Audited Financial statements of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) for the period December 31, 2001 to December 31, 2011 and that of the Integrity Commission for the year ended December 31, 2013.
This was done in the absence of Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.
Minister Jordan presented several orders which include the Constitutional Offices (Remuneration of Holders) Order 2015, the Ministers, Members of the National Assembly and Special Offices (Emoluments) Order 2015. He also presented the Annual Reports and statements of Accounts of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) for December 2007 to December 2010.
Meanwhile, Minister of Public Infrastructure David Patterson presented the statements for the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) for the year ended December 31, 2013, the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) for the years December 2003 to December 2007 and for the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as of December 2009.
The Audited Financial Statements for the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-INVEST) were presented by Minister of Business and Investment, Dominic Gaskin.
The Parliament was also today addressed by President David Granger who spoke on the Guyana/Venezuela and the Guyana/Suriname Border issues.
The next session of the National Assembly is scheduled for November 12, 2015.
