Port-of-Spain: Second Division fire officers have agreed to a five percent wage increase for the period January 1st to December 31st, 2010.
The agreement for revised salaries, Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) and other allowances for Second Division Officers was arrived at after twelve meetings between Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), Stephanie Lewis and the Fire Services Association.
Both parties also agreed to the consolidation of COLA.
In addition each officer will be paid a lump sum of $3000 for the period of the agreement.
The CPO says increases in a number of other allowances have also been negotiated with the introduction of a laundry allowance for officers of a Land, Search and Rescue Unit. Officers who retire compulsorily while acting in higher positions will also benefit from revised pension arrangements.
