Chief Fire Officer, Wilfred Marshall is concern with the high number of personnel in the Fire Service who have not been appointed.
Marshall told Trakker News, that about 30 firemen many of them in senior were in acting postions.
"I am in disucssions with the Chief Personnel Officer on these matters. These positions affect all of my ranks from my deputy down. Too many of my senior officers are acting and it has led to some frustrations in the department", Marshall said.
Marshall said there were many requests to enlist in the fire service, the department was being hampered in recruitment by the lack of promotions because they only recruit at the bottom.
"Until the promotions are made we cannot recruit, all of the vacancies are at the supervisory level so we have to make the promotions, create the vacancies at the bottom and then recruit", he added.
