Fishermen freed

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Steve Blackett, yesterday evening announced at a Press briefing  the ten Barbadian fishermen detained in Tobago last week on illegal fishing charges were free.

Blackett told reporters he had been advised that the fishermen have been released and are free to go. He added that the fishermen should be back in Barbados by Tueday.

He dismissed reports in the Barbados press that the Government of Barbados had done nothing to help the fishermen. Blackett said the Government had been contact with the fishermen through the Honorary  Consul in Trinidad and Tobago, Audley Walker.
