Five charged with murder of moneychanger, daughter

Georgetown: Five men were on Monday charged with the heinous killing of moneychanger Aaron Latchman and his daughter, Arianna on July, 4,2019 at Robert Street, Better Hope (North) East Coast Demerara.

The persons charged with Murder are as follow: Mark Rufino  called ‘Mark’, a 25 years old labourer of Parika Facade, East Bank Essequibo; Paul Chan called ‘Long Hair’ or ‘Anthony’,  a 37 year old conductor of 10 Dennis Street Sophia ECD; Troy Abrams called ‘Troy ‘ or ‘Rastaman’, a 44  year old vendor of Middle Street Agricola, EBD; Lloyd Sadloo, a 37 year old self-employed of 220 Mocha Arcadia, EBD and Sean Thomas called ‘Yankee’, a  41 year old electrician of 59 William Street Kitty.

The Accused appeared at Sparendaam Magistrates Court before Magistrate Alicia George and were remanded to prison. The case was postponed until August 8th.

Police said the motive of the murder was robbery and not an execution.

According to reports, four of the suspects confessed to being a part of the robbery and murder.

Police information technology experts had enhanced security camera footage of the gunmen who fled the scene after killing the Latchmans.

An autopsy performed on Aaron Latchman revealed that he sustained multiple gunshot injuries while his daughter sustained a single gunshot injury. The man was shot thrice during a scuffle in his yard.

The bandits appeared to have been familiar with Aaron Latchman’s routine and were reportedly waiting near his home.
