Georgetown: Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Wednesday at about 11:10hrs on Fairfield Public Road ,Mahaicony East Coast Demerara involving mini bus BRR 5478 driven by Seechan Chandilall of lot 102 Bath Settelment, West Coast Berbice, and motor lorry GPP 9433 driven by Sherlon Wills ,age 46 yrs of lot 30 Helena ,Mahaica ,East Coast Demerara.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the bus and four passengers namely 1) keon Sealey ,age 33, of Farm , Mahaicony ,East Coast Demerara 2) Alana Vaughn ,age 31 yrs of Farm ,Mahaicony ,East Coast Demerara 3) Maxwell Disreali Thom, age 76 yrs.,and 4), Ewart Reynlods , age 64 yrs of Calcutta , Mahaicony ,East Coast Demerara were taken to the Mahaicony Cottage Hospital and were pronounced dead on arrival.
Enquiries disclosed that mini bus was proceeding West along the Southern side of the said road when it experienced a ‘blow-out’ of the left side rear wheel which caused the driver to lose control and collided into the left front portion of the lorry that was proceeding East along the Northern side of the said road.
Other passengers of the bus Cecil Gordon ,46 yrs of Farm ,Mahaicony ,East Coast Demerara; David Jacobs ,age 60 yrs and Angela Jacobs ,age 15 yrs both of Moraikobai ,Mahaicony , East Coast Demerara , and also the driver of the lorry were taken to Mahaicony Cottage Hospital where they were treated and later tranferred to the GPHC and are all admitted; their conditions are regarded as serious.
