Georgetown: The National Toshaos Conference (NTC) meeting is scheduled to commence on October 21, and will run for five days. It is another manifestation of the PPP/C Government’s policy of ensuring that Amerindians’ concerns are heard as it relates to their welfare and development of their communities.
This event which will be held at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal will see leaders from all the Amerindian villages and communities, as well as senior village officials participating.
The NTC started under the stewardship of Former President Bharrat Jagdeo, and has become an event where Amerindian leaders are given the privilege to interact with the Head of State, and his Cabinet face-to-face.
The NTC provides the platform for dialogue and forward planning for Amerindian communities’ development and will include an agenda focusing on the report of the NTC executive.
Community Development Projects (CDPs), Presidential Grants, Amerindian land titling projects and the opt-in mechanism for Amerindian villages and communities are expected to be highlighted during the deliberations.
