Georgetown- After 3 years in prison, the five men accused of one Guyana's horrific massacres are to stand trial in the High Court, following the existence of a prima facie case filed against them. Mark Royden Roberts, called ‘Durant Williams’; Dennis Williams, called ‘Anaconda’; Clebert Reece called ‘Chi-chi’; Michael Caesar and Roger Simon are all accused of killing Edwin Gilkes, Irving Ferreira, Ronald Gomes, Baldeo Singh, Dexter Adrian, Deonarine Singh, Abdool Yassin, Ashraf Khan, and Errol Thomas and three police officers, Ron Osborne, Zaheer Zakir and Shane Fredericks at Bartica on February 17 2008. About 37 witnesses were called in to give evidence yesterday at the start of the Preliminary Inquiry. About 20 gunmen attacked the mining town of Bartica on the night of February 17. The bloodbath ended with a dozen dead. The gunmen were on a rampage shooting up the police station, freeing prisoners and stealing guns and vehicle from the outpost. In the process three officers were killed.
