Five men were arrested over the weekend during a operation by the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) conducted in Bridgetown. Police Public Relations Officer Inspector David Welch, told Trakker News the excerise was part of RBPF strategy to combat theft from the person especially gold.
Three business places in Roebuck Street and Board Street were target as as a result arrest were made. Kebarry Bryan 17, of Forde's Road, Christ Church were arrested and charged with the theft of a gold chain,Trevor Hurdle, 31, of Uncle's Place, Roebuck Street, Bridgetown and Shamar Weir, 18, of Bay Gardens, Bayville, St Michael were arrested and jointly charged with possession of a firearm and illegal possession of a quantity of ammunition.
Carlton Blagrove, 34, of Harts Avenue, Bayville, St Michael was charged with possession of 50 grams of cannabis, trafficking and posession with intent to supply. Zico Dupree, 26, of Beckles Hill, St Michael, was charged with having a small quantity cannabis.
Welch said the operation was carried out by various branches of the RBPF with several warrants being executed.
