The body of Dmitri John was recovered today. John was one of two feared drowned after Sunday's Red Bull Flugtag in William's Bay Chaguaramas. John disappeared in the waters off Chaguaramas when the fishing boat he was traveling in flipped. Witnesses say the boat was over capacity and not everyone had life jackets.
John, the nephew of Housing Development Corporation chairman Jearlean John, was discovered behind the fishing depot near Smith Hill in Carenage, a short distance from where the boat overturned.
When the unfortunate results of the flugtag unfolded, many of the nations Ministers and the Office of Disaster Preparedness (ODPM) pulled themselves out of the situation, claiming they were not involved in the planning and execution of the massive international event. But robbery victims and family of the drowned victim say the scale of the event should have raised a question in the minds of the country's administrators.
