East Coast Demerara – police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at about minutes to 1a.m at Good Hope, Mahaica, ECD, during which retired Colonel Chairman Ramsaroop and his son Arun Ramsaroop are reported to have shot and injured taxi driver Sean Sinclair of Pattensen, ECD, and Junior Corbin of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, respectively.
Initial investigations have revealed that Arun Ramsaroop, who was armed with his licensed shotgun, was making checks on his brother’s service station which was closed at the time when he was confronted by two men, one of whom rushed towards him and was shot to his left foot while the other man ran away. The injured man was later identified as Junior Corbin.
During further enquiries made by Chabilall Ramsaroop a vehicle which was parked not far away and which was suspected to be involved in the matter was encountered. As Chabilall Ramsaroop, who was armed with his licensed firearm, approached the vehicle the driver of the vehicle rushed towards him and was shot to his right foot. He was later identified as Sean Sinclair.
Junior Corbin and Sean Sinclair have been admitted patients at the Georgetown Hospital as the investigations continue.
