Georgetown : Former finance minister Dr. Ashni Singh and former chief executive officer of National Industrial and Commercial investment Limited (NICIL) after granted bail of $6M each for charges of misconduct in public office for the sale of three plots of land at an under value price at Lilendal, East Coast Demerara, the duo were in high spirits.
Dr. Sing on his way out of the courts said that he has no fear whatsoever that the charges against him will be dismissed since they are baseless.
He said the Guyanese people entrusted him for more than 20 years in public office in various roles and took the responsibilities seriously and discharged his duties diligently according to the laws of Guyana and with national interest at all times.
The former Finance Minister claims that the three matters that are the subject of the charges, the transactions were publicly disclosed in a variety of means. It was published in the gazette, a comprehensive document was prepared by NICIL’s head and published on the privatization transaction site.
He said the transactions are not suddenly discovered by the special organized crime unit (SOCU) but were publicly disclosed by the PPP/C Government.
