Former Head of the Civil Service Sir Carlisle Burton, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday after a brief illness,he was 91.
Sir Carlisle, a career civil servant served in ministries including health, education and the Prime Minister's Office.
Among the highlights of his career were the establishment of the Government Printery, the Central Emergency Relief Organization and the Arnott Cato Foundation, which assists with human resources development at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
He was the founder of the Barbados Association of Retired Persons and chairman of the board of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies for several years.
