Georgetown– Former Information Minister and now attorney at law, Moses Nagamootoo, wants his case to be decided by the ruling PPP members instead of a select group of the party's Executive Committee. The decision to elect a PPP Presidential Candidate is slated within the next few months with election expected in August. The party is still giving candidates opportunities to present their case on issues of governance, economic policies and other critical areas. While meetings were held with four of the candidates, long term stalwart Nagamootoo was left out. Clement Rohee, a current Minister; Ralph Ramkarran, Speaker of the House; Presidential Advisor, Gail Texieira and the party’s General Secretary, Donald Ramotar were all at a recent Exco meeting headed by the party's HPS, Dr. Roger Luncheon. Nagamootoo told the press; “The members are the ones that ought to determine whether I am a fit and proper person or qualified for the Presidential Candidate. I have written formally to the General Secretary (Donald Ramotar) and therefore will not partake in proceedings before that body.” The Alliance for Change has elected it's Presidential Candidate, Khemraj Ramjattan, The PNC/R over the weekend elected retired Brigadier David Granger. Now the ruling party is still to decide on it's Presidential Candidate, as the opposition gets ready for the face off in August.
