Former President Jagdeo not allowed a third term – CCJ ruling

Georgetown : Former President and General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party, Bharrat Jagdeo will not be able to run for a third term as President of Guyana after a 6-1 ruling this morning by the Caribbean Court of Justice.

The presidential third limit case was filed by Cedric Richardson in 2015 and the then acting Chief Justice Ian Chang  ruled that the presidential term-limit was unconstitutional.

The APNU/AFCGovernment had appealed the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
