San Fernando: A four year-old boy is currently fighting for his life at the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General hospital, after being mauled by a dog close to his San Fernando home.
Ezekiel Cambridge was mauled about the body by a German Shepherd and another high breed dog.
The gruesome attack occured on Crissy Street Block 5, Palmiste late Tuesday evening while little Ezekiel was being taken for his daily night walk with his grandmother along the street.
Eyewitnesses say as the grandmother and child made their way back home, the high bred German Shepherd ran directly to little Ezekiel and began biting him about the head, stomach and legs, even ripping his clothes and shoes off his body.
Despite the efforts of the grandmother to chase away the dog it would not budge. Hearing the screams from outside, a resident ran from his house armed with a stick in a bid to rescue the child.
Ezekiel was rushed to the hospital by his relatives. Residents reacted angrily saying it was not the first time that the dog attacked a child. However, owner of the dogs Vidya Emrit says the incident was terrible and she says she is concerned about little Ezekiel's well-being.
The matter has been reported to the police. Last Friday a petty thief was mauled to death by two Rottweiler dogs in Barataria.
