Centenarian Sydney Alexander Goddard celebrated his birthday yesterday with family, friends and a special visit from Acting Governor General, the Honourable Elliott Belgrave.
The dapper Goddard joking offer the Acting Governor General a strong beverage to celebrate his birthday, Belgrave declined the invitation with laugher saying in jest: "I cannot drink on the job, you want to get me fired".
He shared a glass of champagne with the witty centenarian. The Brighton Beach, St Michael resident, recalled his early life as a cook, seaman and nightclub owner.
The father of five said he was conceived in Canada but was born in Mason Hall Street, Bridgetown.
