Retired Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance William Layne, says funding for political parties during election campaigns should come from the state only.
Speaking at the Annual General Meting of the Barbados Co-operative and Credit Union League recently, Layne stated that this would reduce chances of begging and therefore owing favours.
"Where political arties received money from a failed institution that took depositors' money and gave it to politicians to run elections, they should play it back", Layne said.
