Bridgetown.
Raul Garica, the Cuban who had been in continuous detention since completing a 17 year prison term will be released from Her Majesty's Prison Dodds over the weekend.
Garica's lawyer, David Commissiong says this decision was relayed to him by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart who has responsibility for immigration affairs.
Garica, 57 was convicted in 1994 of a number of cocaine related charges and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
He completed that sentence two years ago but remained at HMP Dodds awaiting a decision on his future because neither Cuba nor the United States, where he was a citizen, would take him.
Garica will now be housed in a building at the headquarters of the Barbados Defense Force.
