A gas leak at the Grantley Adams International Airport Inc(GAIA Inc) yesterday evening created a scare ,flights were delayed and some members of the airport staff fell ill.
According to Keith Goddard communication specialist at the airport ,a team from the GAIA Inc, the Barbados Fire Service and the National Petroleum Corporation were investigating the the cause of the leak.
"We were informed by the fire service that there was no need for a general evacation since the area was not declared unsafe. Some people were affected by the smell of the gas and they were attended to by medical technicians stationed at the airport", Goddard said.
Up to late last night, firemen were still trying to locate the source of the leak.
