Georgetown: A Guyana Defence Force (GDF) rank died Monday after swimming in the Rupununi River. He allegedly drowned and was in the area as part of a team drilling wells in Region Nine.
Dead is 20-year-old Teron Halley. He was a part of a group deployed in Karaudarnau, South Rupununi.
Details of what transpired indicate that Halley had been playing football earlier in the afternoon before leaving with two others to go swimming in the Rupununi River.
However, time passed and only the two persons who had accompanied Halley, returned. His remains are at the Lethem Regional Hospital’s mortuary, pending an autopsy.
