GECOM’s Chairman calls for scrutineers to be diligent-at meeting to discuss Claims and Objections procedures

Georgetown -The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) today hosted a meeting with election scrutineers from the various political parties to focus specifically on the Claims and Objections procedures. The meeting is part of a series of consultations leading up to general and regional elections.

Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Steve Surujbally in his opening remarks said that task of scrutineering is extremely important at this point in time. It was proven very to be very effective in the 2006 general elections, house-to-house registration, preparation for local government election, and during the continuous registration process
He reminded the scrutineers that while they are representing their respective political parties, they must also see themselves as scrutineers for GECOM.
