The meeting was the first of the full Commission including its new Chairperson, Justice (ret’d) Claudette Singh.

“We did not come to any decision,” Opposition nominated Commissioner, Bibi Shadick told the media after exiting the meeting.

Commissioner Vincent Alexander told the media, after the meeting, that preparation includes the purchasing of non-essential and essential elections materials, some of which have already been paid for.

Also training for elections officials will commence this weekend at some 20 Centres in Georgetown.

The training will subsequently roll out across the country by about 20 teams of trainers.

With regards to the house-to-house registration exercise, he said the secretariat informed the commission that some 230,000 persons have been registered, to-date.

Meanwhile, GECOM is yet to decide on how it will proceed with both tasks, following the August 14 ruling in the High Court.

Alexander said the Commission has decided to await the written judgment after which they will meet again to decide on the way forward.

His hope is that, that meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 20.
