Georgetown: “Leadership is an art that is driven by passion, commitment, sincerity determination, sweat, humility, risk taking, doing the right thing, selflessness and most of all teamwork.”These sentiments were share by Guyana Manufacturing & Services Association's (GMSA) head, Mohindra Chand at the organisations “Leadership Excellence Training Seminar” held Tuesday at the Regency Suites Georgetown.
More than 40 representatives from various private and public firms such as: GUYSCO, Banks DIH, Toolsie Persuad Ltd, and Bureau of Standards were in attendance.
The programme is hosted at least three times annually, with invitations being extended to business owners, managers and staffers in the manufacturing and service provision sectors.
Adding that leadership is not about power or high positions, Chand said, the power to bring people together, foster change and promote teamwork is essential.
Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana, David Davine, who was in attendance stressed on the pivotal role a leader plays when fulfilling and executing their mandates since the focus of the programme, facilitated by internationally known and locally bred business development and communications consultant Sandra Ann Baptiste, was based on cutting-edge leadership techniques.
The one-day workshop titled “Leadership excellence” is geared at inspiring and motivating leaders for peak team performance.
