Georgetown: A gold miner of Charity, Essequibo Coast was shot dead in an apparent robbery outside El Dorado Trading Company in DaSilva Street, Newtown Kitty Georgetown on Monday morning.

Dead is 44-year old Deon Stoll of Barima Avenue, Bel Air Park who succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Injured is Clayton Powley, 45, of 326 Section ‘C’ Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown.
Reporter indicate that the miner recently travelled out of the interior where he operates. It is alleged that Stoll was about to drive into the El Dorado Trading compound when another car pulled up along behind his on DaSilva Street and the occupants opened fire on him.
A security guard and another man who attempted to rush to Stoll’s aid were shot during the exchange.
The gunmen made good their escape in their vehicle as the three men were rushed to the hospital.

Investigators believe that the gold miner may have been followed by the assailants to the trading company where he would usually sell his gold whenever he visits Georgetown.
