Bridgetown.
If the Government of Barbados was a private company it would be declared insolvent and before forced to file for bankruptcy.
Barbados Labour Party spokeman on finance Clyde Mascoll, made this charge last night while addressing a town hall meeting at the Grantley Adams School.
Mascoll said the current administration's final straw of imprudence was allocating resources of the Catastrophe Fund, protection for poor people, to the Urban Development Commission (UDC) and Rural Development Commission (RDC).
"For me, it's the straw that broke the camel's back.It is a case of robbing poor people", Mascoll said.
He cited as a perfect example of Government having massive cash flow problems is it borrowing almost $40 million monthly to pay the salaries of civil servants.
"They cannot borrow anymore money from the National Insurance Scheme, so what they have done now is allocate money from this important fund to two entities which are political animals", Mascoll told the audience at the St Joseph school.
