Government is distancing itself from the private sector says Opposition Leader

Bridgetown.

Leader of the Opposition Owen Arthur, has accused the Government of distancing itself  from certain elements in the private sector.

Speaking at the opening of the St James North branch of the Barbados Labour Party at Thorpes, St James, the former Prime Minister said he was disappointed that at a time when key sectors such as tourism and international business were strugging, Government were refusing to meet with leaders in the business community.

"This Government feels that, rather than work hand in glove with the business community of Barbados, it can generate political capital for itself by trying to walk a separate road from the business community as if that road will lead us to progess", Arthur said.
