Bridgetown.
The president of the Barbados Private Sector Association, John Williams, believes the Government should carefully balance taxation with its social service provisions.
Williams told Trakker News there should be agreement on the role of the Government and the community as its relates to assisting needy individuals.
"If we dont have a cut off point where the Government says we will not repair a house if the owner can repair, The Government will continue try to be all things to everyone",Williams said.
"There will be never enough money to go around and taxation will increase to a point where those are industrious will question why they are working so hard to support Government's largesse. Let the state limit its assistance to those who are unable to help themselves rather than everybody",he added.
