Government spinning feel good propaganda says Leader of the Opposition

Bridgetown.

Leader of the Opposition, Owen Arthur has accused the Government of feeding feel good propaganda on the economy  to the public of Barbados.

In an  address to  hundreds of Barbados Labour Party supporters and members at the annual Heroes Day picnic on the East Coast Road,

Arthur said that he had been informed that there were a number of emergency meeting held by the   Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Department of Statistics and the Central Bank.

"The Department of Statistics now has information that will show that rather then having growth in the economy in 2010, the economy has declined," Arthur said.

He added that Barbadians were being fed a diet of misinformation to make them feel that all is well and the economy is growing.

According to Arthur, the Government should tell the public when it will make things right for the people who invested with CLICO.

"We also need to know when the full facts will be told as how CLICO got itself in this position, and what role ( late Prime Minister)

David Thompson  played as a legal advisor putting them in this situation", Arthur stated.
