East Coast Demerara – With the constant rise in fuel at the local gas stations, Minibus operators are feeling a heavy financial burden. The route 44 minibus operators which ply the eastern corridors from Georgetown to Enmore and Victoria are demanding a $20 increase much to the deafening ears of the Government. Fulling a minibus tank these days is $3,000 more than the average $10,000. The gas prices have now soared to $950 per gallon. The fare structure to and from the East Coast is $120. This fare has been unchanged even with the rising gas prices. Now with higher prices for brake fluids , oil and filters, the operators are finding it difficult to offset their expenses, much less making a daily living.
