Government workers committed to wage freeze

Kingston.

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and Public Service Horace Dalley yesterday told the House of Representatives that public sector wokers have committed to a wage freeze than the target set by the by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to Dalley, approximately 82 per cent of public sector workers have agreed to a wage restraint.
The IMF had set a target of 70 per cent for public sector workers to agree to a wage restraint until 2015.
Dalley said in agreeing to the wage freeze, it demonstrates that there is confidence and trust in the Portia Simpson Miller-led administration.

Among the groups that have not yet signed on to the wage freeze are the police and the nurses but Dalley said discussions are currently taking place to get them on board.
