Georgetown: Under the $35.6 Billion budget for the Ministry of Public Security, funds have been allocated the National Anti-Narcotic Agency (NANA)and the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) to continue combatting the fight against narcotics.

Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan told the Committee of Supply that the allocations cater for the payments of salaries for both departments.
Minister Ramjattan also clarified that the $10Million allocation under line item 6241 caters for the rental of a building to house staff of NANA. He said that the existing building could not house all of NANA’s staff, as such, a new building was sought.
The allocations for CANU were approved in the Committee of Supply without any scrutiny.
