Port of Spain: Prime Minister Ms Kamla Persad Bissessar is defending her decision to charter a Caribbean Airlines aircraft for her trade mission to Brazil. The cost of the trip has been put at $85,000. Ms Bissessar however believes that it is cheaper and more beneficial to the country to charter a Caribbean Airlines flight as she said the country receives 75 cents on every dollar and the money comes back to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Suraj Rambachan also said that the decision to charter was the better way to go to Brazil. He reiterated Ms Bissessar’s points saying that it was not only cheaper and economical but also more convenient. The prime minister and her 40-member team left for Brazil this morning.
