Morvant: Local Government Minister Chandresh Sharma narrowly escaped being killed as the vehicle in which he was travelling overturned several times as he drove along the Lady Young Road in Morvant.
The incident occured around 1:45 this afternoon when the minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Fyzabad, was in his Prado vehicle which collided with another car.
The vehicle carrying Minister Sharma ran off the roadway and smashed into some rocks at the side of the road. He was assisted by an Opposition Member of Parliament before being rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. He however suffered no injuries.
A team of government ministers led by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar visited the minister at the hospital.
Minister Sharma will be discharged from hospital on Thursday following overnight observation at the hospital.
