Gov’t monitoring goods and services to ensure consumers are treated fairly –Commerce Minister

Georgetown : Acting Minister of Tourism Industry and Commerce Irfaan Ali has issued a stern warning to unscrupulous businessmen who may attempt to rip-off consumers during the upcoming Christmas season.

Minister Ali informed that Government will have a zero-tolerance attitude towards such behaviour, while maintaining that there is a steady supply of produce, especially meats and eggs on the market.

“Earlier this year, there was a steep in supplies. However, we have made the right interventions and have since seen an influx of produce on the market,” he said.

During the festive season the price of eggs usually skyrockets because of the demand, as well as for meat.
