President Donald Ramotar, says that his government is open to having the Guyana Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU) sit in a managerial capacity at the Guyana Sugar Corporation.
Ramotar made the announcement as he delivered his feature address and opened GAWUs 20th Delegates' Conference today at the Guyana International Conference Centre.
"We are ready to allow the union to examine the books," said Ramotar also, as he offered to make available GuySuCo's 'financial books' to GAWU for perusal.
GAWUs Delegates' Conference is its premier decision forum and Ramotar has charged that the administration is "open to suggestions" from the employees in the industry, hence the proposal to have GAWU in management.
Delegates were treated to messages from overseas union ally union bodies as well as renditions from the Guyana Police Force Band along with Tassa Drumming, before breaking for its Business Session on Monday.
