Georgetown: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Barama Company Limited Thomas Apun, on Monday paid a courtesy call on Minister of State Joseph Harmon. The CEO was also accompanied by the company’s General Manager Mohindra Chan.
Minister Harmon used the opportunity to reinforce government’s position of being receptive to foreign direct investment. Harmon says government recognizes that the investment Barama Company Limited has made in the sector is an important one. “We want to see that you continue to grow under this administration. We will always try to do our best to ensure that the right atmosphere and environment is created so that business can flourish and you can employ more Guyanese”, he added.
Meanwhile the CEO expressed his company’s continued interest in doing business here. He revealed that the company’s investors are also keen on moving the process of contractual agreements and renewals forward given that further investments are being considered to enhance the level of production, employment and economic contributions toward Guyana.
This year marks 24 years since the Barama Company Limited has been operating here; it currently provides employment for more than 800 Guyanese.
