Gov’t will not act contrary to court ruling on GCB matter- Teixeira

Georgetown : Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony and Director General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elisabeth Harper have been in continuous discussions with CARICOM, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) in order to find a solution in the interest of cricket in Guyana.

Speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President, Presidential Advisor on Governance, Gail Teixeira who filled in for Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon said that Government cannot ignore the ruling of Acting Chief Justice, Ian Chang which renders the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) as an entity that is not legal.
“We have made it clear publicly and otherwise that we are constrained by the ruling of the court and therefore we do not want to find ourselves in an adversarial or contradictory role on what the courts have ruled in relation to this matter,” Teixeira said.
