GPHC clears the air of patients sharing beds.

Georgetown : Management of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation says with the condemnation of the Old Surgical Block which was in a state of disrepair, there was need for the construction of temporary wards to house patients.

If the number of admitted patients exceeds the number of beds on the ward, patients will be asked to share the facilities since the policy of the hospital is not to refuse patients.

It was pointed out that there are still patients who are left abandoned in wards by relatives who simply refuse to take them home. The majority of these patients often times do not meet the criteria for transfer to the Palms or the Night Shelter, so the hospital has no choice but to keep them warded as Lodgers.
