GPHC hydroclave system installed

Georgetown : Health Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy reported that the hydroclave system, the first such in the Caribbean has been fully installed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). It will bring international-quality processing of biomedical waste at the corporation and other health facilities primarily around Georgetown.

Waste from various sites will be picked up by a special sanitation truck that has been procured and transport it to the processing center.
While the system has been tested and commissioned by the hydroclave’s manufacturer, the hospital has not yet begun full operation because of the need for an “automated bucket” which is intended to take wastes from the truck and from the waste containers into the system, Minister Ramsammy said and indicated that  this component is being procured at a cost of about $8M.
