Georgetown: Taxpayers will be afforded a real-time update on their tax status when they visit the Guyana Revenue Authority’s booth during the Guyana Trade Fair and Exposition, billed for this weekend at the Sophia Exhibition Site.
Patrons are encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunity that will be available throughout the period October 2-5 at the Sophia Exhibition Site. It is the first time the Authority will be providing such a service at GuyExpo, GRA said in a release, adding that as a precondition for accessing their tax information, patrons are asked to provide their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
The GRA’s booth, located within the Service Pavilion of the Sophia Exhibition Centre, is in the process of being outfitted with the requisite utilities, including Internet access, allowing the GRA staff on site the capacity to provide tax status updates.
Meanwhile, the team of Tax Specialists and Public Relations Officers manning the booth will also be available to answer questions and offer advice on any tax related matter. Patrons are also free to uplift booklets and other publications at zero cost.
GuyExpo 2014 provides yet another opportunity for the GRA to fulfil its mandate of promoting compliance through education. It is a mandate that has fostered the Authority’s participation in other public events like Berbice Expo and Career Fair activities. Taxpayers should always be conscious of their current tax status to ascertain whether or not they are indebted to the GRA or entitled to a refund.
