Georgetown: R.K. Sharma who has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) has tendered his resignation with effect from June 18th, a release from the phone company said today. Chief Financial Officer Justin Nedd has as a result been named the interim CEO.
In the release, Sharma said that having started working with Barclay’s Bank in 1980, he has functioned over the last 22 years as CEO of Demerara Bank Ltd, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, Director of the National Competitiveness Strategy Unit and for the past two years at GT&T.
“At this point in my career, I would like to take a hiatus from the corporate world and explore other interests”, he said in the press release.
Nedd, commenting on his elevation, said “I am thrilled to take on this expanded role at a truly exciting time at GT&T”.
